Randy Smith of UPS Presents on Web App Security at SC World Congress Event

Emphasized the human element and communication whenever new technology is implemented at a company

Randy Smith from UPS presenting at SC World Congress Event Oct 14, 2009 Randy Smith from UPS gave a great presentation today on Web app security at the SC World Congress Event. Randy emphasized the importance of communication whenever a new technology is rolled out. Misunderstandings occur even under the most ideal situations, so constant vigilance is needed to ensure emotions are kept in check along with setting appropriate expectations to the software developers.

Audience members asked Randy a number of questions, including which applications he started to scan first for vulnerabilities. He answered by saying UPS is testing their existing applications in production first and then addressing the newer ones.
